Bank of Montreal Side View 1/2 Penny 1839

1839 Bank of Montreal Side View Halfpenny Token. Copper. 28 mm. Breton-524, Charlton LC-10B1 (Fifteen palings). Mint State.

Bank of Montreal Side View coinage is legendary amoung Canadian token collectors.  The small quantity produced were of inferior quality, and workmanship, and most were retuned to England to be melted.

Of those that survive, the majority are in VF to EF condition.  Truly Uncirculated examples are indeed very rare.  This one being a very rare variety, not listed in Charlton with a die break over the "T" in "Token".

The provenance is also beyong reproach...Ford, Brand, W.W.C. Wilson....and perhaps the next amazing collection...yours.

A once in a lifetime opportunity for the token collector, and or Canadian specialist.
